“The Legend of Dwenti” Play

In 2017, as part of Prof. Yaw Nyarko’s “Biography of a People” project, a series of cultural heritage initiatives between CTED and the larger Kumawu community, CTED produced a cultural play entitled "The Legend of Dwenti," written and directed by University of Ghana Theater Arts Professor Dr. Appiah Adjei. The play is based on a mystical legend important to the people of Kumawu. The play gave students with an interest in the performing arts the opportunity to gain mentorship and training from the seasoned playwright and theater director. This program was led by and sponsored by CTED in collaboration with the TKSHS Theater Department. Over the course of several weeks, Dr. Appiah Adjei worked with the TKSHS students to put together a highly entertaining rendition of "The Legend of Dwenti," which was performed in front of their school colleagues during CTED’s 2017 Annual Forum.
